Privacy Policy

Who we are. FamilyFirstPlan.org is run by Sydney Troski, an independent licensed life insurance agent. This policy explains what the site collects, why, and what you can do about it. Reading it should take about three minutes.

What we collect if you only use the calculators. The public calculators run in your browser. The numbers you type stay on your device unless you choose to save a plan, which requires a free account. We keep a basic server log of requests that includes a one-way hash of your IP address (not the address itself), the page requested and the time. We use that to keep the site running, block abuse and count visits. We do not use it to identify you.

What we collect if you join. When you create a free account we collect your name, email address and, if you give it, your phone number. As you use the membership we also store the calculator inputs you save (for example your age, monthly budget, mortgage balance, coverage goal or the number of children you entered), your saved plans, your course progress, quiz results, points and badges, anything you post or reply to in the community, and private messages you send to Sydney Troski through the site. If you request a conversation with Sydney Troski, we keep the notes needed to prepare for it.

Why we collect it. To run your account, save your plans so you can come back to them, show your progress, run the community, and let Sydney Troski answer your questions and, if you ask, help you look at real policy options. We also use it in aggregate (no names) to see which tools and lessons are useful so we can improve them.

Who sees it. Sydney Troski and the people who help run FamilyFirstPlan.org. Community posts are visible to other members. If you ask Sydney Troski to look at coverage for you, the details needed for that (your name, date of birth, health information you choose to share, and contact details) may be given to an insurance carrier to obtain an illustration or process an application, and only for that purpose. We use service providers for hosting, database storage, email delivery and text messaging that process data on our behalf under contract. We share information with law enforcement only when the law requires it.

We do not sell your data. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We do not run third party advertising on this site.

Text messages and calls. If you give us your mobile number and check the consent box, you agree that FamilyFirstPlan.org and Sydney Troski may contact you by text message (SMS) and by phone, including with automated or prerecorded messages where the law allows, about your account, your saved plans, your questions, and coverage options you have asked about. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Consent is not a condition of joining the membership or of buying anything. You can stop texts at any time by replying STOP to any message, and get help by replying HELP. You can also ask us to stop calling by telling us on the call or by email. We do not share your mobile number or your text consent with third parties for their own marketing.

Email. We send account emails (sign in links, password resets, replies to your messages) and occasional educational emails. Every non-account email has an unsubscribe link.

Cookies and local storage. This site uses a cookie only to keep you signed in once you have an account, and browser local storage only to remember your calculator inputs and preferences on your own device. We do not set advertising cookies, tracking pixels or third party analytics cookies. If you clear your browser storage you will be signed out and your unsaved calculator inputs will be gone; your saved plans stay on your account.

How long we keep it. Account data is kept while your account is open. Server logs with hashed IP addresses are kept for 90 days and then deleted. If you close your account we delete your profile, saved plans, progress and private messages within 30 days. Community posts are deleted or, at your choice, kept without your name so replies from other members still make sense. If you applied for a policy through Sydney Troski, records of that application are kept for as long as insurance regulations require, which is typically several years, even after your site account is closed.

How to delete your account. Send Sydney Troski a message from the Messages page in your account, or email sydneytroski@gmail.com from the address on your account, and say you want it deleted. We confirm by reply and the deletion is done within 30 days, usually the same day. You can also ask to see or correct what we hold about you the same way.

Security. Passwords are stored as salted hashes, not as text. Data moves over encrypted connections. No system is perfect; if we learn of a breach that affects your information we will tell you as the law requires.

Children. FamilyFirstPlan.org is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account or post in the community. A parent or grandparent may enter a child's age in the Head Start calculator or save a plan for a child; in that case we collect the adult's details and the child's age, not the child's name or contact information. If we learn that someone under 18 has created an account we will delete it.

Your state rights. Depending on where you live you may have the right to know what we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of any sale (we do not sell). Use the contact below and we will honor those requests for any member regardless of state.

Changes. If we change this policy we will post the new version here with a new date. If a change affects how we use information you already gave us, we will email account holders first.
