Who runs this site. FamilyFirstPlan.org is an educational website run by Sydney Troski, an independent licensed life insurance agent. National Producer Number (NPN) 20887332. Sydney Troski is not an employee of any insurance company. FamilyFirstPlan.org is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any insurance carrier, bank, lender, funeral home, or any federal or state government program, including Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid or the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The calculators are estimates, not quotes. The Keep the House, Cover the Goodbye and Head Start calculators use the numbers you type in, published averages, and simple math. They are built to help you think, not to price a policy. Every dollar figure they show is an estimate. None of them is a quote, an offer of insurance, an application, a rate, or a promise about what any carrier will charge or approve.

No guarantee of coverage or price. Whether you can get a policy, and what it costs, depends on the carrier's underwriting: your age, health, medications, nicotine use, driving record, occupation, the coverage amount, the product type and the state you live in. Nothing on this site guarantees that you will be approved, that a certain amount of coverage will be available to you, or that a premium will be at or near any number shown here. The only numbers that count are the ones in a carrier's written illustration and the policy contract itself.

Carriers, products and availability vary by state. Sydney Troski is an independent agent and shops several carriers. Not every carrier, product, rider or feature is available in every state, and carriers change their products, rates and rules from time to time. A product described in a course, a tool or a community post may not be available where you live, or may work differently there.

Where products are offered. Insurance products are offered only in the states where Sydney Troski holds a life insurance license. As of the date above, those states are South Carolina, California, Florida, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Oregon, Texas and Virginia. If you live somewhere else, you are welcome to use the site, the courses and the calculators as education, but Sydney Troski cannot sell, solicit or advise on an insurance policy for you there. Licensing can be checked with your state's department of insurance using the NPN above.

Compensation. Membership is free and the calculators are free. If you choose to apply for a policy through Sydney Troski and it is issued, the carrier pays Sydney Troski a commission. That commission comes from the carrier, not as an extra charge to you, and the premium you pay is the same whether you buy through an agent or directly from the carrier where that is allowed. Commissions differ from carrier to carrier and product to product. You are never required to buy anything to use this site or to stay a member.

Indexed universal life projections. The Head Start calculator compounds a monthly amount at the rate you choose and nothing else. It does not include cost of insurance, premium loads, rider charges or surrender charges, all of which reduce cash value, and it does not model caps, participation rates or spreads, which carriers can change over time. Every rate on the page, including the 6.5% preset, is a non-guaranteed hypothetical. Index crediting has a floor, usually 0%, but policy charges still come out in a 0% year, and a policy that is funded too thinly can lapse. Policy loans and withdrawals are generally not taxable while the policy stays in force and is not a modified endowment contract; loan interest, withdrawals and a lapse with a loan outstanding can create a taxable event. The death benefit is generally income-tax-free to the beneficiary, though estate tax can apply. An IUL is a life insurance policy first; the cash value is a feature of the policy, not an investment account. A licensed agent will provide a carrier-approved illustration that shows all charges and a guaranteed column before any application.

Not a registered investment adviser. FamilyFirstPlan.org and Sydney Troski are not registered investment advisers. The membership, tools, courses and community are for education only and are a way for Sydney Troski to meet families who may want life insurance. Nothing here is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security.

Not tax, legal or investment advice. Nothing on FamilyFirstPlan.org, including the courses, the tools, the calculators, the community and any message from Sydney Troski, is tax, legal or investment advice. Sydney Troski is a licensed life insurance agent, not an attorney, accountant, registered investment adviser or securities broker. Life insurance, including indexed universal life, is an insurance product, not a security. Tax rules change and depend on your situation. Before you make a decision that affects your taxes, your estate, your will or beneficiary designations, or your investments, talk to a qualified professional who knows your facts.

Courses and facts. The courses cite public sources such as the National Funeral Directors Association, the Social Security Administration and LIMRA. Figures like median funeral costs are national medians and your local costs will differ. We try to keep these current, but they are provided for education and may be out of date by the time you read them.

The client story on the home page. The client story shown on the home page is illustrative. It is a composite example written to show how the process works and is not a real client, a real result or a testimonial. It will be replaced with a real client story, shared with that client's written permission, once one is available. No statement on this site should be read as a promise that your outcome will match any example.

Reviews. Where the site mentions a Google rating, it is the rating shown on Google on the date noted and may have changed since. Reviews reflect one person's experience and are not a prediction of yours.

Questions and complaints. If you have a question, or something on this site or in a conversation with Sydney Troski did not sit right, tell us first. Email sydneytroski@gmail.com or call (740) 424-6884. We aim to respond within two business days. If we cannot resolve your concern, you have the right to contact the department of insurance in your state. In South Carolina that is the South Carolina Department of Insurance, Consumer Services division, which takes complaints about agents and carriers online and by phone. Other states have an equivalent office; search for your state's department of insurance and look for consumer complaints.
